Reflections

                    "REFLECTIONS"

I am in the closing phase of finishing this one and it has turned into one of those paintings that I have truly learned a lot from it.
It has taught me to be extremely careful with placement careful with the detail and most of all to appreciate that nature is truly amazing.
This painting has taken weeks of work and layers and layers of paint to create and illusion of moving water and the effects it has on the earth.

I would love to know your thoughts and feeling on this one and it has also made me decide to go back and revisit other paintings and bring them, up to the same standard

Reflection Update

Reflection Update

So its is very slow going creating this one and one of the biggest learning curves I have attempted to date. I have painted water for years but none that were so clear and with so much light refraction. I estimated that it may take upwards of 8 weeks to create this I may have totally miss calculated as I am extremely fussy. So this is weeks later and I have managed to almost paint in 1/3 of the canvas it is a large canvas so in saying that I will go on learning. Do check out some of my other artwork on Instagram #wolfeyes46 or on Lynn Campbell Art by Wolfeyes on Face book or Lynn Campbell Art by Wolfeyes on Google. Thank you for viewing. :)

Reflections WIP

                                                              Reflections

The third in the series Land Sea and Sky. It is a long way from finished but I thought you might like to see how it is progressing. It is a real optical illusion of reflective light water and rocks in a crystal clear sea and how the sun refracts against the water and the colors that ensue. I estimated this one would take around 8 weeks to complete and I have revised that and at this stage it may take far longer. But It is nothing but pure hard work and a learning curve. This is one of the largest canvases I have worked in in some time.

Really

                                                             "Really"
I am in the closing stages of finishing the latest in the eye series. This one has take 3 years of thought and looking for the right re bar to manipulate the canvas to the shapes I was after. Now that I have discover this easily bent Alloy I will try a few more like this my mind has already been think along the lines of what else can be bent and adapted to enhance the effect .Mixed media and lots of fun creating art that actually appears to be emerging from the wall.

Night Life

                                                                Night Life

This is the 3rd in the new series of paintings titled Night Life the series involves land sea and sky. I am attempting to add man made objects in some and not in others this painting it largely thanks to my daughter Lana and her photo. This is Auckland City New Zealand after dark looking across the harbor from Devonport  and the harbor is where all the inbound out bound sea traffic arrive in Auckland at the Ports.

Really

                                                               Really

Yes I am still working on the unusual the strange the think outside the box of course you can Ideas. I just struggle sometimes to figure out how to make my crazy ideas work. This is the latest in crazy ideas. It has taken 3 years of thinking and searching for suitable material to bend and mold the canvas to the contours of the face. I am still bending and shaping and while doing so I am adding shading to the eyes to bring them to life.

Dreaming

                                                    "Dreaming"

This is the second in this series. I am including land sea and sky in this series and working on different ideas other than just the usual. It is including man made structures among other things. I enjoyed the bright colors in this one it made me smile on a cold winters day to realize that summer will indeed roll around again.

Dreaming

                                                                     "Dreaming"

I have started another in a new series this one it called Dreaming as is often the case when you experience the sun rising over water. I suppose you could also include it is the same as the sun sets and you find your self wishing. I am lucky enough to live in a beautiful spot in New Zealand were I do indeed get to see the sunrise over the ocean most mornings. I also find myself dreaming about the simple things like What if. This is the second in this series the last was called Missing. I hope you like what I have done so far.

Ebb and Flow

                                                                     Ebb and Flow

This series of Waves is all thanks largely to the kindness of Terry Urban and Kiri Goodspeed. Without there photos these would never have happened. None the less I used artistic license for all the waves. The next series is more about the land and sea and water and how the interact with light. So here is the series from start to finish. The great love affair of ocean man and art. I don't do prints no do I ever produce the same painting twice These are one of a kind Original Acrylic on Canvas paintings

Gentle Caress

Gentle Caress in the closing stages

                                                          Gentle Caress

I have had a love affair with water all my life it fascinates me. With it's changing colors and moods.
This is the eighth and final painting in this series of waves. It is also about a love affair with life art and a man. It has been 1 year since I started this series and many hours of work later this is what finishes the series.

Gentle Caress.

                                                                        Gentle Caress

I know its been a while since I posted here and I have been working on this wave for over a month now. It is really detailed and far more complex that it first appeared as there is now over six layers of paint to give the visual effect of depth. there is far more to be done on this and it will be another couple of weeks before I see the end in sight.

Gentle Caress

                                                       Gentle Caress
The last and yet again the most complicated of the waves it has taken a complete 360 and transformed into a turquoise wave. It like the others is all about how I feel in life and wish that in time to come I may find the answers I have long searched for this is a long way from finished but I will add a couple of photos so you can see where it is going.

Really

                                                                  Really

Yes I have been working on my eye series as well as the waves. This is the third and probably the most complicated of the eyes. I have used aluminum rebar and bent it to conform to the bends I have also made in the canvas. It is on the way to being finished and I will updated the finally painting when I have finished the mounting and also the shadow lines that will add the 3D effect and bring it more into the shape of the face.

Rip Tide

RIP TIDE

I have been a little of the beaten track in the last month a wee visit to hospital didn't help with me keep up with the blog. So in the last  month I managed to finish Rip Tide and add it to the Ebb and Flow series. I am in the process of working on the last in this series of waves and I will up date that shortly. Rip tide that moment when you get caught in the sea as it tows you off shore. In a way I felt a little like that myself like I had no control over where I was going. so this is how it has ended up

Untitled as yet

This is the beginning stages of the latest Wave and as yet I have not decided on a name for this one. I was kindly loan a photo by another artist and edited it to the max chooped near enough to two thirds of the photo from the original to start this monster. It measures 122 cms  x 31cms not wide but very long. Having loads of fun Wave action and ocean being one of those places I find peace.

The top photo is a close up of the one below. Having fun.

"Sense of Self"

Sense of self is for all women. But and I say this very tongue in cheek. It is as close to how I see myself most days. I think all ladies have that desire to be seen as sexy vibrant alive and desirable. I know I do and red is the colour of desire and romance so this is for all ladies but more importantly for myself. It is stage one of a larger more comprehensive piece I have in mind so you will have to keep watching if you wish to see the rest.

"Missing"

The latest in a long line of paintings this one is still in the working stage a couple of weeks of laying down paint Titled Missing it has a very long way to go to be finished but I thought you might like to see what I have been up to lately. I have moved to a new home in a different area and I am slowly working my way towards completing this so I can start the final in a series I have been working on since last year.

Ebb and Flow Collection to date

This is a preview of the Ebb and Flow Collection to date. I am working on the next piece which is titled MISSING. I will hopefully update more often on here but as these artworks take between 4 and 7 weeks to complete I can't promise they will be constant updates. Starting with Newton's Wave which won an Honorable Mention in a Art Competition. Explosive is next and that is followed by The Curve. Return is number four and this is followed up by Kiss of Foam and Into the Deep is the latest in this series. I have recently moved and find myself drawn more and more to painting the water and how it moves.
